7 Candle Scents You Should Try!

I was not a candle person until about 2-3 years ago when I was hanging out at a friend’s house and he had this candle that just smelled so amazing. I was like, “OMG. I need this candle and I need this vibe for my house!”. That ignited my hunt for great smelling candles. Randomly, when I went back to my house in VA (at the time), I ended up in a TJ Maxx and realized they had all these candles in the back with this one particular smell that stood out to me.
It was Santal Musk by DW Home ($12-16).

This candle smells soooo good to me. I know it’s a strange way to explain it but this candle makes me think of a good smelling man. LOL. On the site (click the picture), they describe the fragrance as: “warm sandalwood, oriental amber, and incense embrace sweet, dark plum and blackcurrant lifted by floral orange blossom, white cedar, and milky vanilla bean”. And I guess that’s what a good smelling man smells like to me. In TJ Maxx I got the medium single wick version but of course, since it’s TJ Maxx, I was never able to find that candle in store again. So a few months ago, I randomly googled the candle and found the DW Home website, searched for Santal Musk and it was out of stock. I signed up for the restock alert and about 3 weeks ago, I got the email saying it was back in stock PLUS a discount code for having to wait so long.
It was lit (no pun intended)!
Refined Wick Candle Co.- 8oz candles in Egyptian Cotton, Peach Sangria and Lavish Lavender
Next up, is a new brand out of Georgia which creates hand-poured soy candles called Refined Wick Candle Company. It is a black-owned, woman-owned business (got to support black-owned, woman-owned business, chile!) with made to order goodies. My favorite candle scent is the Egyptian Cotton ($8-$25 depending on size) from the Black Lux Line because it has that same smell good/man smell that I like but literally all of her candles + products smell soooo good. The website describes Egyptian Cotton as a: “woodsy scent [that] has notes that are similar to those of a cologne”.
I told y’all! Fine man smell!
I also love The Lavish Lavender candle and The Peach Sangria candle ($8-25 depending on size) as they are sweet and familiar scents that make any room smell wonderful and create a relaxing environment. The fragrances are there, honey! One wick and all! There was no half-stepping on the creation of these fragrances and they are delightfully potent. Bath and Body Works 3 Wick Candles in Champagne Toast, Eucalyptus Spearmint and Mahogany Teakwood
Finally, we have our tried and true Bath and Body Works candles that come in my favorite style, 3 wick candles ($24.50 each reg). I love a huge candle because the smell permeates through the room at a more rapid rate and you don’t have to have multiple candles in one room to get the same effect. Also, Bath and Body Works has the 3 wick candles on sale quite often so you can stock up and have them as options depending on your mood.
My three favorites from BBB are the White Barn Mahogany Teakwood (good man smell), Stress Relief Eucalyptus + Spearmint (clean smell) and Champagne Toast (sweet, fruity smell).
