5 Skin Care Gurus That You Need to Follow to Create Your Own Routine
On Wednesday night’s IG Live with Jessica (@indyacejr) for Closet Chronicles: “Right Face for The Right Fit”, we came across the topic of skincare. While Jessica and I have great skincare routines on our own, we aren’t estheticians ourselves. So, I wanted to create a full list of the skincare guru’s (with links) that I have found on Twitter who have provided me, free and insightful information which I have used to help create my own skincare routine over the years.
I think people get caught up in marketing and don’t realize that you have to first understand YOUR skin before you should get involved in certain skincare products. The information that I received from the gurus below via their Twitter accounts, helped me, so, I think they can also help YOU! Seriously, just from good old FREE Twitter, I was able to pinpoint my skincare needs. So without further ado…
The Skincare Gurus
MakeupforWOC is a licensed esthetician based in upstate New York. She has really in-depth threads on really any skin issue with recommendations for products you can use to fix them if you search through her tweets. The crazy thing is she started with skincare when she was really young. She’s only around 19 now but don’t let her age fool you, sis KNOWS her stuff! Her followers vouch for her and provide pictures showing clearer skin after heeding her advice.
LaBeautyologist is a licensed esthetician who created and branded the 60-second rule of washing your face that went viral last year. She is a skincare YouTuber with videos on dermaplaning, body skincare, product recommendations, and beyond! Check out both for in-depth skincare information!
Sean Garrette was most recently tapped to work with Fenty Skin on their new launch and is a skincare ambassador for that brand BUT he is also a licensed esthetician with his own skincare brand (Sean Garrette Skin). I mean y’all when you see his face, his skin is just SUPPLE. It’s evident why Fenty tapped him for his expertise!
Caveofbeauty is a licensed esthetician with a knack for getting those who have acne-prone skin all the way together! She has her own spa in New York and has been featured in Vogue Magazine. I mean really, guys look at her media. Her skin is spectacular!
CruzanChoklate is a licensed esthetician based out of Charlotte, NC, and owns her own skincare brand, Ixora Botanical Beauty. As her name on Twitter says, the “Skincare Bully” gathers those who need skincare assistance quickly to ensure everyone has great skin! The results from her customers after using her products are astounding!
So that’s my list guys! Be sure to check them out. I really listened to black estheticians because since they have black skin like me, they know black skin’s needs. This doesn’t mean that someone who is NOT black can’t use the great information that they provide, I just chose to listen to those who know black skincare issues in depth which are very different from less melanated people.
I also know that this doesn’t make up for going to your own esthetician who can give you information about your skin directly, but it’s a workaround for those who may not be able to afford to go to an esthetician themselves or may not feel comfortable since we’re still living through a pandemic. Luckily, with the internet, we are able to still make something shake!

Let me know if this post was helpful to you and if there are any other skincare gurus you love that I missed!
